The Art of Women who Resist- “Bread and Roses”
August 18 @ 6:00 pm - August 30 @ 9:00 pmFree
Women of the Resistance celebrate Bead and Roses. The title “Bread and Roses” comes from the 1912 Laurence Mill Strike where women fought for their rights, asking for raises and a living wage so they could buy bread for their families; but beyond that, for the beauty of roses in their lives as well. Here is a link to the song, Bread and Roses, that commemorates the struggle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaWmG-vQTGw
This exhibition includes the works of women who march today of women’s rights, peace and social justice.
